Improving community livelihoods

We have implemented projects to improve the livelihoods of the communities and employees around the buffer zone, including apiculture, village savings loan associations, and out-grower farmers.

"UFCL provided seedlings that helped me plant a forest. I earned RwF 2,500,000 from the first tree harvest, enabling me to build a house that now earns me Rwf 40,000 per month in rent. The forest has regenerated, producing at least three coppices, and improving my livelihood."

"I lead the team to achieve company goals, am a problem-solver with advanced supervisory skills, and prioritize gender balance and job training in our temporary staff from local communities. Partnering with our Corporate Social Responsibilities department, we work to improve communities. Working with UFCL has developed my mature and responsible approach to any task. With six years of experience in forestry operations and coordination of timber processing, my team and I strive to improve the sawmill."
